Under Fire for Ethics Scandals, US EPA Chief Pruitt Resigns

Embattled Environmental Protection Agency chief Scott Pruitt has resigned.

President Donald Trump tweeted Thursday that he accepted Pruitt's resignation, without making any mention of the numerous scandals and alleged ethics violation in which Pruitt has been embroiled.

The exact reason for Pruitt's resignation was not announced.

Pruitt's deputy, Andrew Wheeler, will take over the EPA as acting head.
