Eau Claire (WQOW) - The Eau Claire Downtown Farmers Market was back in Phoenix Park Pavilion Saturday morning after its original opening was delayed due to the coronavirus.
Market organizers said they took those extra few weeks to make sure all safety measures were in place before vendors and customers gathered.
With those precautions in mind, organizers prepared for the market to have one-way traffic, hand washing stations at both the entrance and exit points, and all vendors were required to wear masks.
One vendor said she's thrilled to be back in business.
"All the vendors, we're one big family," said Hannah Sjostrom of Honey Hill Apiary. "To be able to be back here selling means more than probably a lot of people would realize. This is their livelihood to be back out here. We get to see the familiar faces and the wonderful support of the community."
Market organizers said they thought the opening was a success, even with all the new restrictions.
"People seem to be following the rules and adhering to the procedures," said Diedra Barrickman, the market's manager. "It is a little strange to see so many people out in one area, however they seem to be trying to be careful which is great. It's very positive, not just monetarily, but for the happiness of everyone really."
The market runs every Saturday at the Phoenix Park Pavilion from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
